Welcome back to the one and only #gossipstation where we are joined by the Evening Standard’s senior writer Lucy Tobin. Not only has she just recently given birth to a baby boy (huge congrats) but she has also launched a baby blog called ‘run out of womb.’
So, let’s get to it guys n gals…
Hello Lucy! Thank you so much for joining us on #gossipstation it’s great to have you on the show! Can you start off by telling us a little bit about yourself...
Hello everyone! I'm a journalist, author of six books and new mum to my baby boy.
Massive congratulations on your baby boy! Charli has three boys so if you have any questions just drop her a line! So tell us - why did you go in to journalism?
I always loved writing, but when the teacher in charge of my school paper picked another student to edit it, I sulked. I then wrote to all of the national papers' editors asking if they wanted someone to write the inside track on being at school. Not many of the papers did but the Telegraph agreed to take me on so I started writing for it when aged 16.
Wow that’s incredible! We LOVE your determination! So, you now work for the Evening Standard and you've just launched your own blog! What made you decide to do that?
I'm on maternity leave and am loving spending time with my tiny man. BUT I missed writing and had lots to say about the parenting world (mostly, ignore everyone's advice) so launched Run Out of Womb (runoutofwomb.blogspot.com)
Haha that’s hilarious. Can you tell us a little bit about your job role at the Evening Standard...
I'm senior news feature writer at the Standard. I spend half the week writing business news and the other half doing features. I also have a column on Fridays.
A jam packed week work wise on top of being a new mum to a little boy! What are your fave brands for him?
He's lucky enough to have four cousins and lots of hand-me-downs. I've bought some treats from Brora, Baby Gap and Shmuncki. I love simple graphic prints.
Statement pieces and prints are key! How are you finding juggling new bubbers and work? What's your secret?
My iPhone and evenings.
What would we do without our smart phones? AND last but not least - What's your favourite thing to do in London?
I love strolling around Hampstead followed by eating a banana and milk chocolate crepe from the stand.
What a fabulous combination! There have to be a few perks don’t there? Lucy thank you so much for joining us on #gossipstation it has been fab getting to speak to you about juggling your busy work life with your new found motherhood! Keep us updated on everything and we can’t wait to see more from the blog!
Join us next time for lots more chinwagging and goss! Big kisses Alegre Ladies xox
