Gossip Station: Gem Flossy

Hello everyone and welcome back to the one and only Gossip Station! On the show this time round is ultra funky celebrity hair and make-up artist Gemma Wheatcroft who has worked with celebs such as Caroline Flack! It is fab that she is joining us for a chinwag and a goss! So, let’s get to it…

Gemma thanks you so much for joining us! Can you start off by telling us a little bit about yourself...

Hello everyone! My name is Gemma Wheatcroft and I am a celebrity makeup artist and hair stylist.

So tell us, why hair and makeup? Where did your journey start?

My journey started with Art! An art foundation in Brighton in fashion and textiles led to me gaining a place on one of the first hair and makeup diploma courses at London College of Fashion, 'HND fashion styling for hair and makeup!' It was a two year course including fashion appreciation, art, photography, media, business studies, body painting and hair and makeup. I really enjoyed it and thrived in the makeup and body painting side of things. AND since then, I have never looked back.

There’s nothing better other than finding something that you love! What projects have you worked on to date?

Everything from Paris and London fashion week, touring the world with Musicians, celebrity magazine cover shoots to mainstream Saturday night TV. I also present and demo at global Press and PR events for a major beauty brand and teach a national masterclass for one of the top makeup academies in the country

Wow you are one busy lady! What's your ultimate beauty tip?

Get your brows sorted! Everything looks more polished and finished with a gorgeous brow to frame the eyes! Groom and fill brows to create a natural looking, full but clean brow. To avoid over plucking, get them shaped professionally!

Fab advice and we completely agree! We feel so much better when our brows are in order! Have you got top 3 favourite beauty/cosmetic products?

RODIAL Glamobrow precision eyebrow pencil. It’s dual ended so perfect for naturally filling and grooming the brows. The extra fine pencil tip allows you to fill in the brows hair by hair.

ELEMIS hydra gel eye masks. Apply them pre makeup whilst you relax along with a good face mask. In 10 minutes your eyes are instantly depuffed, hydrated, relaxed and ready for makeup.

MAC Prep and prime fix+ face refresher and finishing mist. It refreshes the skin and fixes makeup but is also great to mix with pigments and powder eyeshadow to make them creamy and easier to blend and apply without dropping.

MAC is one of our go to make-up brands. We love their products and continue to use them time after time. What's coming up for you in 2016?

Travel! I’ve got a shoot in Paris this week which is exciting and then I have press trips to Sweden, Denmark, USA and Australia. Then, I’ve got lots more TV and a few masterclasses.

A travel whirlwind! That will be so much fun! And last but not least…what beauty look should we be rocking for the New Year?

My New Year look would be clean and fresh. Detox the skin with plenty of detoxing masks and exfoliating washes. Make sure your base is dewy and glowing. Keep the brows strong , full and groomed! Go for luscious clean fluffy lashes and use a sheer cream highlighter on the cheekbones and eyelids to brighten around the eyes. Go for a strong suede lip. Reds and rich browns will keep the winter blues away!

We like the sound of this and will take note on anything that will help to keep the winter blues away!

Gemma thanks you so much for joining us on gossip station. It has been fab learning a little bit more about you and having you share your ultimate beauty tips with us. We can’t wait to be updated on all of your exciting 2016 journeys.
