Joining us on #gossipstation for an exclusive interview ahead of the launch of her FIRST ever editorial is Romaine Coonghe from fabulous online platform Junior Style specializing in kids fashion.
Romaine, we are so excited to have you on Gossip Station so we can find out some insider info! Can you start off by telling us a little bit about the FIRST ever Junior Style editorial…
Hello everyone and thank you for having me! The first editorial is based loosely around the beloved Pippi Longstockings. Pippi is a great inspiration to young girls with regard to believing in themselves, which with today’s current climate it is especially relevant.
What a lovely story to base the editorial on! There is nothing better other than empowering individuals to believe in themselves! Why did you decide to start creating your own editorials?
Over the last six months I have been approached by a number of photographers and stylists expressing an interest creating editorial content for Junior Style. I think it’s the natural evolution of the brand as a leader in international children’s fashion.
We think that it’s fab and brings a new flavor to the mix! As you said, it’s a natural evolution. How did you select the team that you have worked with for your first project EVER?
This just naturally happened. Jill Rothstein and I had been in contact with each other for a while. I really like Jill’s work and she has been very supportive on Instagram. When we had a conversation over Skype I felt she really understood Junior Style and what we are all about.
Jill quickly enlisted the talented photographer Meg Stacker, whose work is also very much in tune with Junior Style. They turned this editorial around very quickly so that we could have it go out before Christmas.
How exciting! There’re so many brands out there for kids but do you have a favorite? Let's say top 3?
Well this is quite a hard question to answer.
Mothers today are so lucky to have such a variety of interesting independent brands to select from. When my boys were growing up I always dressed them in Scotch and Soda, Ralph Lauren. The youngest loves molo.
What a great choice but we are biased there haha! What's coming up for Junior Style? Can you let us in on any secrets?
We’re excited to be collaborating with some of our favorite photographers and stylists in the industry to offer more editorials and we will be contributing to a new a consumer blog launching in January.
Wow so much going on and to look forward to which is FAB, AND you’ve all heard it FIRST here on Alegre!
Romaine, thank you so much for joining us, it has been a pleasure as always and we can’t wait to share some more snaps from your first editorial here on the blog.
